다모아텍은 2015년 설립된 반도체 팹리스다. 임피던스 입출력신호장치용(ROIC) 칩으로 다양한 센서를 개발·공급하고 있다.

임피던스는 교류 신호를 인가할 때 전류 흐름을 방해하는 척도를 의미한다. 특정 회로에 신호가 통과할 때 발생하는 주파수·진폭·위상 변화로 외부 환경을 분석할 수 있다. 다모아텍은 이런 임피던스 기술을 기반으로 반도체와 센서를 동시에 설계·개발하는 경쟁력을 보유하고 있다.

다모아텍은 기술력을 앞세워 자동차·농업·축산·헬스케어 등 다양한 분야에서 활약 중이다. 특히 맞춤형 센서를 제공하는 역량을 인정받고 있다. 국내에서는 젖소 농가에 다모아텍 센서를 공급, 환경 데이터를 기반으로 인공지능(AI) 스트레스 지수를 분석하는 성과를 거뒀다. 이를 통해 농장 환경 개선, 생산량 증가, 품질 향상에 기여했다.

자동차 분야에는 현대차·기아 및 SECO 그룹과 협력해 비접촉식 안전 센서를 개발한 바 있다. 현재 양산 단계까지 도달했다. 미래 모빌리티 산업 경쟁력을 위한 자율주행·안전 주행용 차세대 센서도 개발 중이다.

성남시 기후테크와 지오테크 과제도 진행하고 있다. 온실가스 저감·수자원 관리·지하·토양·기상 데이터 통합 기술을 스마트시티 및 농축산 분야에 접목, 실증하는 사업이다.

다모아텍은 올해 본격적인 글로벌 시장 진출도 추진한다. 최근 브라질, 호주, 인도와 수출 협상을 진행했다. 기술 검증(PoC) 단계를 넘어 센서 샘플 공급과 현지 테스트를 통한 현지화 작업에 착수했다. 회사는 이번 해외 진출로 제품의 글로벌 표준화와 현지 적합성 확보가 가능할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

특히 AI가 확산하면서 시장 기회가 한층 커질 것으로 회사는 전망했다. AI에서는 데이터가 중요한데 다모아텍 센서는 각종 데이터를 정형화해 네트워크 끝(엣지) 단에서 처리, 서버 비용을 절감하고 AI가 예측 가능한 정보를 도출할 수 있다.

다모아텍은 올해 10억원 규모 프리 A(Pre-A) 투자를 완료, 성장 기반을 닦을 계획이다. 2029년 코스닥 상장이 중장기 목표다.

정후민 다모아텍 대표는 “국내외에서 기술과 시장성을 입증해 왔다”며 “앞으로 투자자와 글로벌 파트너와의 긴밀한 협력으로 더 큰 시장을 열고, 대한민국을 대표하는 센서 플랫폼 기업으로 성장하겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.

DamoaTech, founded in 2015, is a semiconductor fabless company that develops and supplies a wide range of sensors built on its impedance readout IC (ROIC) chips.

Impedance is a measure of how much a circuit resists the flow of current when an AC signal is applied. By observing changes in frequency, amplitude, and phase as a signal passes through a given circuit, one can analyze external conditions. Leveraging this impedance technology, DamoaTech possesses a competitive edge in designing and developing both semiconductors and sensors in tandem.

Armed with its technical strength, DamoaTech is active across diverse fields including automotive, agriculture, livestock, and healthcare. In particular, it has been recognized for its ability to deliver customized sensors. In Korea, the company has supplied sensors to dairy farms and achieved results by analyzing AI-based stress indices from environmental data, thereby contributing to improved farm environments, increased yields, and enhanced quality.

In the automotive sector, DamoaTech has collaborated with Hyundai Motor, Kia, and the SECO Group to develop non-contact safety sensors, which have now reached the mass-production stage. The company is also developing next-generation sensors for autonomous and safe driving to strengthen competitiveness in future mobility.

The company is carrying out climate-tech and geo-tech projects with the city of Seongnam, integrating technologies for greenhouse-gas reduction, water-resource management, and the unification of subsurface, soil, and meteorological data, and applying them to smart-city and agri-livestock domains for real-world validation.

DamoaTech is also pushing ahead with full-scale entry into global markets this year. It has recently engaged in export negotiations with Brazil, Australia, and India, and has moved beyond the proof-of-concept (PoC) stage to begin supplying sensor samples and conducting local tests for localization. The company expects this overseas expansion to enable both global standardization of its products and assurance of local compliance.

With the spread of AI, the company sees market opportunities growing even further. Because data is critical in AI, DamoaTech’s sensors structure various types of data and process it at the network edge, which reduces server costs and allows AI to derive predictable insights.

This year, DamoaTech completed a KRW 1 billion (Pre-A) investment to strengthen its growth foundation, with a mid- to long-term goal of listing on KOSDAQ in 2029.
